Sunday Service: August

AUGUST 2, 2026 -
What’s your distance?
On the course, the answer matters. You pick a club based on the number, not the one you wish it was.
Too often we make decisions based on where we want to be instead of where we actually are. We overestimate our abilities, underestimate the challenge, and wonder why we keep coming up short.
The best golfers know their numbers. They know how far each club really goes, not the one perfect shot they hit six months ago.
Honesty creates consistency.
The same applies away from the course. Know your strengths. Know your limits. Know how much you can carry before asking for help.
You can’t choose the right club if you lie about the distance.
You can’t make the right decision if you lie to yourself.
Play the number that’s in front of you. That’s how you give yourself the best chance to reach the target.

AUGUST 9, 2026 -
The morning doesn’t ask anything from you.
It just gives you a little space.
Before the pace picks up, before you’re solving everyone else’s problems and before noise finds you.
It’s one of the few times you can hear your own thoughts without interruption.
I’ve noticed some of my clearest thinking doesn’t happen when I’m trying to figure life out. It happens walking down an empty fairway while the rest of the world is still asleep.
Maybe that’s why I keep coming back.
Not to escape life, but to make sense of it before the day begins.

AUGUST 16, 2026 -
Some rounds are about the score. Some are just about who you get to share them with.
A few hours outside with good people. Talking between shots, laughing at the bad ones, watching somebody hit one they’ll probably talk about for the next six months.
Golf has a way of slowing things down enough to actually enjoy where you are and who you’re there with.
The scorecard gets tossed eventually. The stories usually stick around a little longer.

AUGUST 23, 2026 -
We spend a lot of time trying to get better. Lower scores. Better swings. Fewer mistakes. But somewhere in all of that, it’s easy to forget why we started playing in the first place.
You’re outside. You’re with your people. You get a few hours where most of the other stuff doesn’t matter.
Hit the bad shot. Laugh about it. Find it. Hit the next one.
If you’re not having fun out there, you might be keeping the wrong score.

AUGUST 30, 2026 -
You can play golf alone, but it’s better with a team.
Different swings. Different games. Different scores. Same group pulling for each other all the way around.
Celebrate the good ones. Help find the bad ones. Pick each other up and keep moving.
It doesn’t get much better than that.
